Tammy Fry is a lifelong vegetarian who was brought up by parents who are passionate about the health of the planet, a passion that both Tammy and her husband Richard share today. Tammy, who is a mother to an energetic two year old son, describes herself as an environmentalist, and has been instrumental in the launch of Meat Free Mondays in South Africa, Durban is Tammy’s home and also the headquarters of Fry’s Vegetarian Foods where she is Marketing Director. Not your garden variety South African family business, this award winning company was started by Tammy’s parents, Wally and Debbie Fry, over 20 years ago. What started as a search to find protein alternatives for their own consumption has today turned into a business which makes thousands of tons of vegetarian products per year, and employs over 250 people. Tammy epitomizes health and wellness and has a passion for Karate, having achieved 4th Dan status and has been part of the South African National Karate Team for over ten years.
