The Future is Bright

It has been a pretty bleak economic period and even though we’re still reeling, it is the end of another year and we want to embark on the New Year with optimism and energy. As the fashion world looks ahead to 2012 there is a clear message that it’s time to fight off the economic woes and dreary colours and get re energized for a brighter future.

As we peek into the latest northern hemisphere 2012 season and the colour palette for the spring/summer collections, it seems that while muted greys, midnight blacks and soft whites were showcased around the world the trend was to include a much needed colour injection. The consensus is that the world doesn’t need more grey; we need to move on to better, brighter things. Colour combinations are extreme; think bold and black; or bright and white. The lines between casual wear, business attire and evening wear are blurred. The fabrics are striking and the styles are asymmetric.

Tangerine Tango has been announced as the colour of the 2012. It is a punchy mix of orange, coral and red. We need to welcome in the New Year with positive energy and enjoyment. The colour depicts liveliness and optimism, and at a time like this, when things seem uncertain, we need brightness. Look for new ways to add colour to your wardrobe and be daring. Add a pop of tangerine tango to your wardrobe and you will instantly feel more cheerful. It is an extremely versatile colour for all skin types.

Yellow was seen at the New York, Paris, Milan and London fashion weeks in liberal dollops. There was a clear return to cheery dressing. Yellow returned in all its shades from creamy vanilla to searing citrus. It has been the colour of choice on the red carpet this year and many stars have shone in this gorgeous hue. There is a shade of yellow that works with every skin tone so find yours and introduce a piece of the sun.

Sodalite Blue reminds us of the ocean and has a soothing effect on us. The message is that there’s energy and vitality reflected in our bright colours but we also need a little calm and serenity and the blues bring balance.

Cabaret pink is a sexy colour that has the same energizing quality, introduce it this summer in a hand painted colourful bikini or simply wear it on your nails or lips.

Fashion critics around the world are turning to colour this season. Vibrant colours are being incorporated into all styles of dress. Bright rainbow pants are the trend that has walked straight off the runway and into stores. Men and women have embraced the bright pants theme with passion and flair. It is a statement of individuality but just remember that bright colours attract and as long as you are attracting attention to your best feature wear them with confidence.

One of the splendid benefits of wearing something bold is the head turning attraction of a beautiful unusual colour. Don’t hide behind black; it is time to be bold and daring. Bright colouration in evening wear was seen in short spicy dresses to long flowing gowns. It is appealing and very eye catching to you wear a brightly coloured evening dress and with it you’ll have purchased a chunk of confidence.

Colour is a powerful indicator of how we feel and what we want to project. Colour can change your mood in a minute. Vibrant hues are vivacious and exciting and in the heat of summer it is time to turn on the brights. Project a confident, more optimistic attitude in the clothes you wear.

Fashion experts forecast that the future is so bright that you’ll have to wear your shades. Let’s raise our glasses to a better, brighter 2012.
