Be Kind to Yourself – Let Go, Laugh and Try Again
“No price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself” By Friedrich Nietzsche
The end of the year seems to intensify reflection. We ask ourselves how we did and what we achieved. Be kind to yourself and look at the good bits. As adults we seem to be constantly under pressure to perform. Your yoga classes are the gift of just being at one with yourself – the difficulty of the postures shows you, you can do more than you think and if by now you’ve developed the discipline to just be there non-negotiably you know how rewarding it is to push yourself and it’s no longer a chore.
The Bible says when I reach adulthood I put childish things behind me. It doesn’t mean life is not fun anymore it just means accepting that adulthood is all about responsibility – your perception of these responsibilities is what makes all the difference. No one has the right to make you anything so what you are and the pressure felt is created and applied by you. That doesn’t mean give up your job and have your children adopted – it just means renegotiate things – life is a continual renegotiation. If you’re the one doing everything it’s what you’ve chosen – if you’re loving it and that’s the way you want it – great – if not, delegate – bring in the help you need – call a family meeting and let them know that you will not be doing everything alone and you require assistance.
As you reflect on the past year, continually return to the question – what have I done to create what is – not what has everyone else done to make my life so. When it comes to your mental, spiritual and physical condition, ask the same question – the way you look, feel and approach life will be the direct result of the choices you have made.
Renegotiate with your mind and body and lovingly get yourself on to the right track. Remember its not about what others are doing – you are the creator of your life – live it, love it and rise to the occasion and when you can’t, let go, laugh, try again. Life is a yoga class personified!
Take advantage of holiday time to do some extra yoga classes – I’ll be here throughout the festive season to assist you.
Have a glorious conscious quiet celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Namaste
